Minako, Sora and Biyomon were standing in the center of Qu village.

"Hello and welcome to the Ultimate Challenge!" said Minako.

"Once again were here at the Qu village." Sora said.

"Sora! Sora! this has been a busy place."

"Yeah I know!"

"Well I don't think they can complain, look how they ended up." Minako said.

"They only missed building an amusement park."

Biyomon got excited "Qu land!"

"Um... sure..."

"By the way, we're both here because both the Yellow and the Blue Team are coming here" Minako said.

"Yeah.. the Blue Team wants to open a certain cave and the Yellow Team wants to get their hands on the yellow team."

"Yeah! Let's watch what happens!"

Biyomon was dancing around "Qu land! Qu land!"

The Blue Team had made its way back to the swamp, now followed by Ponyta, Luna, TK and Patamon. Ranma was in the lead, closely followed by Beruche, Mimi and Palmon; behind them were Luna on Vivi's hat who was riding Ponyta, and the two remaining digidestined with their digimon were way back.

Kari and TK were talking the opportunity to catch up on things, but Kari noticed TK wasn't being very talkative.

"So what's wrong TK? Why won't you tell me why you are looking for Mew?"

"It's confidential I tell you, you know there are things we have to keep in secret."

"TK!" Gatomon said, she was getting mad at TK "don't you trust Kari? Surely there's something we can do to help."

"It's not that! It's nothing for you to worry about."

Patamon flew right above Gatomon, he knew TK was in a bit of fix and decided to help.

"Gatomon, TK is trying to prove himself, give him a chance."

"Alright, let them be Kari."

"Ok, but if you do need us you know only need to ask. My team is full of nice people,even if they fight with each other often."

TK smiled at Kari, and seeing this she smiled back.

Ranma-chan did not take long to turn into a woman in the swamp. He was at this point afraid to ask Beruche anything, but he just had to discuss something.

"What are we going to do if we bump with the Yellow Team?"

Beruche knew this was coming, and had thought of the answer long ago.

"We're going to arrive slightly before the 48 hours are up, we'll enter the cave quickly and close it behind us. The yellow team won't be able to enter without TK's help."

"What if we don't make it?"

"Look at the time, we still have 1 hour left and the village is right ahead."

Mimi felt the need to add something. "What are we going to do with Ponyta? I don't think it's safe for him to go into a cave."

"Why don't we leave him at the pokemon center? a mean someone has to use that thing."

Ranma was still not convince with Beruche's strategy. "What if the yellow team decides to wait outside?"

"That would be great! I've already made a plan. Before we exit the cave we'll have Vivi concentrate real hard on a Stop spell, we'll leave the cave without them knowing, if they are there. Then we'll just leave them thinking we're still in the cave."

"Well I suppose we have no choice but to go with it. Let's hurry up so we have time to leave Ponyta and go into the cave."

The Yellow Team was just outside the swamp waiting for the 48 hours to end.

"Do we really have to be so precise?" Freya ask.

"Hey! We said 48 hours and we're going to keep our word!" exclaimed Goku.

Izzy, who had started a timer on his watch the moment the 48 hours started, saw that they still had 40 minutes to go. "You know, if we start walking now, we'll be in the village at exactly 48 hours."

Ash, who couldn't stand just sitting around, got up and yelled "Ok then! let's go get our ruby back!"

Ryoga sighed, he knew the swamp meant being a pig for a while. Just to get it over with he dumped a bucket of water on himself.

Sora's comment: "Where did he get the bucket?"

Freya, Ash and Pikachu led the way itching to make their way back into the village, Goku reluctantly followed with Izzy, Tentomon and P-chan by his side.

Izzy had to say something "You know it is pretty doubtful that they are still going to be there. The best we'll be able to do is find out where they went."

"I know," Freya said "but I want to give them the least advantage possible."

"What are we going to do once we catch up with them?"

"Well, we can't make the mistake of underestimate them. I mean we had them in the perfect position to get the emerald from them, but they managed to get our ruby instead."

"I've been thinking of a way to fool them, but I haven't come up with anything good yet."

"Well you still have time."

The Blue Team had left Ponyta in the pokemon center, being the only pokemon there he was receiving great personal treatment, Ranma-chan took the opportunity to ask for some warm water to turn to his male form. They didn't waste too much time before making their way towards the giant boulder. They noticed the boulder now had a fence around it, plus a long red rug in front of it.

Kari grabbed TK's hand and led him to the boulder, she pointed right were the crest of Hope was. "See? There it is."

TK wanted to get a closer look, but just his mere presence was enough to obtain a reaction from the boulder. A small hole appeared right on the boulder, slowly it became larger and larger, when looked closely it looked like the boulder was being sucked into the cave from the inside out. Then all of a sudden when the hole became large enough TK and Patamon were sucked in, Kari tried grab TK but she wasn't quick enough.

"KARI!!" TK yelled as he was being sucked into the cave.

The hole still grew after sucking TK in, but nobody else was being sucked in. It continued until the boulder disappeared completely.

"Oh my god!" Mimi said.

"Patamon!" Palmon said "Mimi we have a problem!"

Beruche said "I know, without the boulder we can't seal the cave."

Mimi, Kari, Palmon and Gatomon stared at Beruche.

"Oh... yeah I guess we have to look for them right?"

Vivi peeked inside the cave, there was a stairway leading down into the earth, he could only see as far as the sunlight would reach. "It looks like a long way down" he said.

"Don't you know a spell that could help?" Ranma-chan asked.

"No, I'm sorry."

"For crying out loud Ranma!" Beruche said "we do have flashlights you know, do we have to use magic for everything."

Ranma had a sweatdrop, for once he admitted Beruche was right. He took out a flashlight along with everyone else and together made their way down the stairs.

The Yellow Team made it to the village, at first they thought they had arrived at the wrong place, but Izzy assured everyone that they were in the right place.

"What happened here?" asked Ash.

"Pika..."

"Was this a remodeling job?" Tentomon asked.

"If Rome wasn't built in a day it was because they didn't hire the crew from the Ultimate Challenge." Izzy stated.

Ash noticed a newly build pokemon center. "Hey! just what I needed." He and Pikachu ran to it leaving the others behind.

"ASH!!" Freya yelled trying to stop him, but it was no use, he had already made his way inside. "That boy is too impatient."

"Don't worry Freya, we can start asking about the Blue Team in the mean time." Goku suggested.

"Very well..."

Just then they heard a familiar voice, "Hey! You back!!". Everyone turned around and saw Qwolin. "You be punctual."

Freya did not beat around the bush "Where did the Blue Team go?"

"Ah... you look for Blue Team, just talked to them moment ago, they ask not to tell you they were here."

Everyone was startled.

"They're here!?" asked Izzy.

"I no tell."

"*sweatdrop* Where they go?"

Qwolin thought for a moment. "They no tell me not to tell you where they go, so they go boulder just outside village."

Just then Ash returned with Pikachu. "Hey guys you won't believe this!!"

"What is it?" Goku asked.

"There's only one pokemon in there, and guess who it is!"

"Ponyta." Freya answered.

"Hey, how did you know?"

"The Blue Team is here!" Goku exclaimed "What luck!"

"Well let's not waste any time and go get them." Freya looked very determined.

Everyone in the Yellow Team left towards the boulder.

The Blue Team had walked down the stairs for quite a while, no trace of sunlight was visible anymore. It was a pretty erie place to say the least.

"How much longer?" asked Mimi, "this is creepy."

"It can't be much more? Can it?" Beruche was unsure of herself.

"We have to go on! we can't leave TK here." Kari looked scared as well, but she continued courageously.

Just then they saw a faint reddish light in the distance.

"I think that's the end of the stairs!" Ranma exclaimed.

Luna was walking right behind them "You know..."

"AHHHH!!!" Ranma yelped and then tripped over. He knocked Beruche down who knocked Mimi down, who knocked Palmon down, who knocked Vivi down, who knocked Kari down, who knocked Gatomon down. They Blue Team finished going down stairs by rolling down.

After everyone got back up slightly in pain, Beruche just had to yell "Ranma you jerk!!"

"I've told that cat to stay away from me."

Luna walked down the stairs. "You know Ranma I'm not going to do anything."

"You stay away from me!!"

"Where are we?" asked Kari.

They were in a large cavern, the ceiling was extremely high.

"This place is huge!" Vivi exclaimed.

"Even Birdramon would be able to fly freely here inside." Palmon said.

"No wonder the path of stairs down was so long." Beruche said. "By the way, where is this reddish light coming from?"

"Over there!" exclaimed Gatomon pointing forward. At the very end of the cavern there was a huge door, one that almost reached the ceiling. The red light came from below the door. Everyone walked towards the door, in the process everyone noticed there were four other doors in the cavern, two the left and two to the right. They noticed that there was a pit in front of the giant door where the red light came from, but there was also a wide stone bridge in front of the door. They looked down into the pit and saw a river of lava beneath them, the heat was really intense.

"So what now?" Vivi asked.

"Well... my bet is on the giant door." Beruche said.

"How are we supposed to open that!?" Mimi asked "Even Togemon is small for it."

"Shouldn't you try the small doors first?" Luna asked.

Just then they heard the four normal sized door slam open, before they could realize what happened everyone started floating.

"Hey what's happening!?" asked Ranma.

Before anyone could answer they started flying towards the doors, Beruche went into one, Kari and Gatomon went into another, Mimi and Palmon went inside the third door and Vivi and Luna went into the last door. Ranma just fell back to the ground.

Ranma got up and ran back towards the door, he tried opening any one of them, but they were all closed shut. He even trying breaking his way trough but they were to hard for him.

The Yellow Team made their way down the stairs, the first thing they noticed when they reach the cavern was that it was huge, they also noticed the giant door that was at the very end, and finally they saw Ranma trying to open a normal size door.

"Hey! Where are the others?" Ash asked.

"Who cares?" Freya said "This is our chance!"

Ranma was too concentrated on opening the door that he didn't notice the arrival of the Yellow Team, he just realized someone was with him when he felt something pointy on his back. "Damn! What now?"

"I never thought it was going to be so easy to find you." Freya said.

"Crud... why now? Look I don't have your stupid ruby, and right now I can't be bothered by you."

The rest of the Yellow Team got closer to Ranma and Freya.

"Where are the others?" Izzy asked.

"That's what I'd like to know, they all..."

Just then everyone started floating and the doors slammed open again.

"It's happening again?"

"Weeee!!!" P-chan was scared. Just then he flew into one of the doors, Izzy and Tentomon flew into another, Ash and Pikachu flew into a different door and lastly Freya flew into the final door. After that all the doors closed again and Ranma and Goku fell back on the ground.

"That's what happened to my team too..."

Ash and Pikachu had fallen to the ground right after going through the door. "Are you alright Pikachu?"

"Pikachu..."

"That was some ride? but how are we going to get back to the others?"

"Pika pikachu."

Ash and Pikachu looked at their surroundings, they were in a small corridor, in the end there was another corridor that extended both left and right. "Should we try to open the door or see where this corridor takes us?"

"Pi...ka!"

"Um... this door looks pretty solid, I doubt we can break our way through. Let's take the corridor."

"Chaa!!"

"But do we go left or right? so many questions!"

"Pi..."

Just then they heard some faint voices, and they appeared to get closer. Ash and Pikachu looked into the other corridor on the left side, and then saw Kari and Gatomon coming around another corner.

"Gatomon I don't think this is the way out."

"Trust me Kari! I have a great sense of direction!"

Just then they saw Ash and Pikachu!"

"YOU!!" exclaimed both Kari and Ash.

"What are you doing here!?" Gatomon asked.

"Looking for you!"

"Hey wait!" Kari asked "Did you just get here?"

"Um... yes."

Kari ran towards Ash and then looked around the corner where he was, she became disappointed when she saw the door. "Gatomon! We're back where we started!"

"*sweatdrop* guess my sense of direction is a bit rusty."

"You mean this is a labyrinth?" Ash asked.

Kari nodded. "We've been trying to find our way out, but we've had no luck so far."

"Pika!!"

"Well, why don't we try another path?" asked Ash.

"We could go straight left, instead of going into the corner Gatomon and I came from."

"KARI!" Gatomon yelled "should we trust them?"

"He's in the same situation we are."

"PIKAA!!!"

Sparks were coming out of Pikachu's cheeks, but Gatomon wasn't impressed. "Just remember how badly you were beaten last time."

"Pikaaaa pikachu!!"

"Same to you pal!"

"Enough!" Ash said "if Kari and I can work together you two can too."

Gatomon and Pikachu looked away from each other.

"I suppose I'll have to bare." Gatomon said.

"Pika..."

Just then a dim light appeared from the right side of the corridor, everyone started at it as it seemed to be coming closer. When it got close enough to be distinguishable everyone saw it was a small creature carrying a lantern. Kari then realized what it was.

"AAHHHH! tonberry!!!"

"Kari? What is it?"

"It's a monster! We have to get out of here."

Ash was confused. "That little fellow?"

"What's he going to do?" asked Gatomon "tickle us to death?"

"I'm serious!! It's to dangerous to get close to it."

Ash smiled "Don't worry! We'll take care of it. Pikachu! Thundershock!!"

"PIKA!! PIKACHUUUU!!!"

Pikachu attacked tonberry with it's electric attack, he was only successful in stopping him for a second or two, he then resumed slowly walking towards them.

"You sure showed him," Gatomon said mockingly "he's scared to death. Let me take care of it." Gatomon ran towards tonberry, leaped and landed a jump kick right on his head and bounced off.

The attack had done nothing to tonberry, he just raised his hand a Gatomon was knocked off her feet. He then took out a dagger and was ready to stab Gatomon. In the last moment something wrapped around her waist and pulled her back. She looked at what was pulling her and saw Bulbasaur.

"Good work Bulbasaur!" Ash said, he called him back to his pokeball.

"Can we run now?" Kari said looking at the approaching tonberry.

"If you can keep up!" Ash as he and Pikachu made a run for it in the opposite direction the tonberry came. Kari and Gatomon were quick to follow.

"At least it's slow!" Gatomon said "but that thing is deadly!"

They continued running without turning in the corner Kari and Gatomon came out from, they continued their way until the path once again divided in two.

"Now what?" Ash asked.

"Let's go right!" Gatomon said.

"You just admitted a moment ago your sense of direction was rusty!"

"So you think we should go left!? Fine! be my guest!!"

Ash and Pikachu did go left, and was followed by Kari.

"Kari not you too! Geesh..." she ran to catch up with her partner.

"I'm sorry Gatomon, I just think we shouldn't split up, and you did lead me around in circles."

Gatomon blushed, she was looking at Kari so she didn't noticed Pikachu had stopped, she crashed with him and both hit the wall in front of them.

"It's a dead end." Ash said "and dead we're going to be."

Pikachu got mad because of what Gatomon did and released and electric attack that shocked everyone.

Gatomon who had gotten the worse of it simply got up and kicked Pikachu on the tail. "Don't do that!? I can take it but I won't let you treat Kari like that."

Kari who still felt small vibrations in her body said "It's alright, I think."

"Hey, the tonberry is pretty slow." Ash said "maybe he hasn't reached the point where the path splat, maybe we can sill make it back."

Everyone ran back where they came from, when they reached the spot where they had turned they noticed that tonberry was just around the corner, but they decided to risk it anyway. Ash, Kari and Gatomon passed by him in the nick of time, but Pikachu stumbled and fell right in front of him. The tonberry was ready to stab him but Gatomon jumped back, grabbed Pikachu and bounced back where she came from. They both then resumed running.

"Gatomon!" Kari said "how noble of you!"

"Don't take me wrong," Gatomon responded "I just don't want to owe Ash any favors."

They continued running until they reached a pit. Ash looked down but couldn't see the bottom. Kari noticed the path continued beyond the pit but was too far to jump, even for Gatomon.

"Damn!" Gatomon said.

"Don't worry," Ash said "we can get through this! Charizard I choose you!" Charizard came out of his pokeball, breathing fire as always. "He'll fly us to the other side. Kari you go first."

"But he's your pokemon."

Gatomon pushed Kari towards Charizard. "Don't put yourself in more danger than what you're already in."

Kari reluctantly got on top of Charizard, he extended his wings which barely fit inside the narrow corridor. He then leaped towards the pit and started flying to the other side.

Gatomon and Pikachu could already see the dim light of tonberry's lantern approaching. After Charizard left Kari on the other side he came back ready to pick someone else.

Ash got on top of Charizard "Let's go Pikachu!"

"PIKAA!!"

"What's the matter Pikachu?"

"Pikachu!! pikapika!"

Gatomon translated "He wants you to take Charizard by yourself while we slow tonberry!"

"Pikachu! Let's go!"

"Pikapika!"

Charizard seemed to understand what Pikachu wanted him to do and he took off with Ash. Unfortunately Ash was heavier than Kari and Charizard jumped clumsily and was barely keeping himself above the pit. It would take him a lot longer to get Ash across than he did with Kari.

"Why did you stay with me?" Gatomon asked Pikachu.

"Pikapika! pikachu!"

"Yeah... I guess I wouldn't have let you show off alone either."

tonberry was getting real close, Pikachu decided to try another attack to slow him down "Pikaaachuuuu!!!" and once again he only succeeded in stopping him for a second.

Gatomon ran towards tonberry and stopped right in front of him, she then started avoiding the quick stabs that tonberry was launching. It was a lot more difficult than she thought, he's stabs were too quick his hand looked like a blur, it was hard to imagine someone with such slow feet had such fast hands. Luckily Gatomon was keeping up the pace.

Just as Gatomon started to get tired she heard the familiar cry of Charizard who appeared to be coming back for them, in fact Pikachu had already get on and was started to yell for Gatomon. Gatomon leaped back and got on top of Charizard. He extended his wings and took off, giving Pikachu and Gatomon a ride to the other side of the pit.

Once Charizard arrived safely with Pikachu and Gatomon Ash called him back to his pokeball, he had a big smile on his face. "It was close, but at least he can't follow us now."

Just then a bridge materialized in front of their eyes, and tonberry continued walking towards them. They had no choice to continued running.

"At least the path seems straightforward from here!" Gatomon said.

"Yeah!" Ash said.

Suddenly the floor started to slowly tilt upwards, forming an uphill slope.

"Oh no!" Kari said.

At first it wasn't too much of a problem, but as the slope became more pronounced it became harder to walk, it didn't help the the floor was completely smooth.

Ash was able to see the end of the slope and threw two pokeballs. Bulbasaur and Chikorita appeared on level ground right in front of the slope "Guys!! I need your help here."

"Bulbasaur!"

"Chiko!"

Both Chikorita and Bulbasaur extended their vines for Ash to get a hold off. He grabbed them along with Pikachu who started to use them to climb up, Ash then reached back for Kari, but when he turned around he noticed she was farther away from him that he thought, she had an ever harder time with the increasing slope.

Finally Kari's feet gave away and she slipped, but Gatomon caught her and held her to prevent her from slipping away. She held on with the help of her claws.

"Bulbasaur! Chikorita! I need to let me down so I can grab Kari!"

Bulbasaur and Chikorita did as told and slowly let Ash down.

Gatomon looked below Kari and was too surprised to see tonberry getting closer. He wasn't bother at all by the slope, in fact his body remained perpendicular to the floor at all moments.

When Ash reached Kari they slope was at about 70 degrees. Even Gatomon was having problems hanging on. "Guys!! Bring us up!"

Bulbasaur, Chikorita and Pikachu pulled as hard as they could, but lifting them both was very hard, and the slope was still increasing making it harder. Gatomon had used her claws to climb up faster and was able to help them before they slid off. With Gatomon's help they job became a lot easier and both Kari and Ash made it safely to the top.

Ash recalled Bulbasaur and Chikorita, they all wanted to rest but knew tonberry was still behind them. "Wait!" Ash said, he took out another pokeball "Squirtle! I choose you!" after Squirtle appeared Ash yelled his command. "Squirtle! Water gun at Tonberry!"

"Squirtle!!" Squirtle did as told and shot tonberry with a lot of water, because of the slope it was successful in pushing him back, and when the floor got wet enough he slipped and slid down out of sight.

"Way to go Squirtle!" Ash celebrated.

"Thanks Ash!" Kari said.

Everyone's good mood disappeared when then noticed the path splat three ways. "We still have to find our way out." Gatomon said.

Everyone sighed.

Izzy walked along a long corridor, he and Tentomon could see a dim light at the end of it. When they made it to the end they found themselves inside a small room with many odd looking computers, they also realized they weren't alone, Beruche was in there as well.

Beruche was looking at a monitor on the wall, but she heard Izzy and Tentomon arrive. She turned around and said "You! what are you doing here!"

"Looking for you!" Izzy said "but I got separated from my team in the process."

"You were forced to come in here right?"

"Yes."

"You mind if we don't bother each other at least until we reunite with our teams?"

"Yeah... I figure we better do that."

"Izzy!" Tentomon said, he had been looking at the computers "What do you think this is?"

"I've been here for a little while," Beruche said "but I can't make much out of any of this. Hey! you're the computer genius no? you could make more of this than I ever could."

Izzy blushed "Well I'll see what I can do, what's on the screen anyway?"

Beruche explained "Well as you can see it looks like a maze, and there are a lot of dots running around in it. Some are black and a lot are red, I don't know what's the whole point of it."

Izzy noticed there was a keyboard below the monitor, he walked towards it and started pressing some keys, suddenly some text appeared over on screen over the maze. Izzy looked at.

"Yeah I've seen that too, but it was greek to me."

Izzy didn't respond.

"There he goes again," Tentomon said "you won't be able to tell him anything until he figures out what that means."

"He does that often?"

"Yeah, although not as often as he used to."

"It's amazing this kid doesn't need glasses."

Suddenly Izzy exclaimed "I got it!"

"What is it Izzy?" Tentomon asked.

Izzy started to press some keys, suddenly the text disappeared and a small square appeared, Izzy moved it around with the keyboard and placed it over one of the black dots, he then pressed a key and the screen change it's view, now they could see Vivi walking along a corridor.

"Wow!" Beruche said "I get it! What we're looking at is a maze, and the black dots represent us, but what do the red dots represent?"

"You got it, let me check." Izzy pressed more keys and the map appeared again, he moved the square to a lonesome red dot and changed the view again. This time they saw a tonberry slowly walking through another corridor.

"Is that a monster?"

"Looks like it."

"So what are we supposed to do?"

Izzy went back to the map "Let's look at it."

The three of them took a good look at the maze, Beruche was quick to point out something. "There's no way out."

"Um... good point, but the center room is noticeable larger, and I think the wide and long corridor below it is where we came in."

"So the exit is at the bottom of that corridor right?" Tentomon said.

"Well if that's the case..." Beruche started following a small path that led to a small room where 3 dots where standing still. "Izzy show us those three dots."

Izzy did so and suddenly in they were watching their own backs on the screen. They turned around but couldn't find a camera anywhere.

"Well that's freaky." Beruche said.

Izzy took their image off screen and moved the square to black dots that were in the center of the maze, but nothing happened. He tried to do it again but nothing would appear on screen.

"Who do you suppose is that?" Tentomon said.

"Um... could they be TK and what was his name again?"

"Patamon?"

"Yes!"

"Why would they be here?" Izzy asked.

"Well because they came with us! how did you think were we able to remove that boulder? Unfortunately the moment he opened the cave for us he was sucked in."

"I see..." Izzy moved the square down to the corridor they came in, they then saw Goku and Ranma trying to break their way through any of the doors, but not having any success.

"Do you think they'll find a way to get in?" Beruche asked.

"I don't know."

"Well this is nice and all, but besides from being able to spy on everybody, what else can we do?"

"There may be a way to communicate with them, I'll see what I can do."

"What I good little boy, I'll just stand here quietly, at least until I get bored and then I'll start nagging."

Izzy and Tentomon had a couple of sweatdrops.

Freya was trying her way through what seemed like a labyrinth She hadn't spent a lot of time searching when she heard some footsteps around the corner. She tried to follow the sounds until she felt she was close enough to what she was hearing. She quickly turned around the corner and held up her spear in front of her.

Mimi found herself with a spear just touching the tip of her nose. "AHH!!"

Palmon was quick to react and grabbed Freya's spear and pulled it away. "What do you think you're doing!?"

Freya took a fighting stance. "So it's you!"

Mimi took a step back and Palmon stepped in front of her. "What do you want with Mimi!?"

"Isn't that obvious!? You have our ruby."

"Ah... you mean that." Mimi said "Lucky for me, you see I don't have it."

"How do I know you're telling the truth."

"Well you see..." suddenly Mimi grabbed Palmon's hand and ran for it.

Freya was quick to follow, she didn't believe Mimi could outrun her. Unfortunately there wasn't enough room to jump above her or else she would have been standing in front of her about now.

Mimi and Palmon turned around the corner, just about a second ago there seemed to be so many twist in turns, why did the corridors look so long now? They came to a complete halt when they noticed something standing in front of them.

Freya came around the corner still in pursuit, she almost crashed into Mimi but was able to stop in time. She put her lance in Mimi's back and said "Will you hand it over?"

Mimi just asked. "What's that? It looks like a little Togemon."

Palmon said "Nah... I look better than that, don't I?"

The little creature in front of them looked like a small cactus with holes as eyes and mouth. He was odd looking in a way because he's arms were up, a leg up in the air and the other with it's knee bent. It looked like it was running but wasn't really moving anywhere.

Freya then realized what it was, without saying anything she grabbed Mimi and leaped around the corner.

"What you do that for?"

"That's a cactuar! they're dangerous."

Just then Palmon came around the corner covered in small needles. "It attacks like a little Togemon too."

"Oh dear..."

"Let me digivolve Mimi! I'll show him!"

Mimi nodded and held out her digivice, but Freya batted it away with her lance.

"HEY!! What are you doing?"

"Do you think the large version of your digimon fits in here?"

"Um..."

"I thought so."

"But now what?"

Palmon looked around the corner. "It's coming!"

Freya said "Don't worry, I'll take care of it." she leaped around the corner and stood in front of the cactuar. It reacted quick and attack with 1000 needles. Freya started spinning her lance in front of her and blocked the attack. When the barrage of needles stopped Freya ran towards it to reach it before it could attack again. She took a swing with her lance and cut the cactuar in half.

Freya returned around the corner, "See? that's how..." but Mimi and Palmon were nowhere to be seen. "That little..." she began chase again since they couldn't go to far.

Mimi and Palmon were breathing heavily and looking around a corner.

"Do you think she'll find us?" Palmon asked.

"I hope not, we have to find our way out."

Just then they heard Izzy's voice "Mimi! Palmon! Can you hear me?"

Mimi was startled "Izzy? Is that you?"

"Yes, don't worry I'll guide you out."

Mimi then realized something "Wait a sec! I'm in a maze and Izzy is going to guide me out? Oh not this again!!"

Palmon had a sweatdrop.

Just then Beruche's voice was heard "What is it with you Mimi? Do you plan to turn that into a catch phrase? The Ultimate Challenge is probably selling 'Oh not this again' t-shirts."

"If they do I want my share of the profits."

Just then Freya caught up with them and was ready to attack when she suddenly heard Izzy's voice "Freya stop!"

Freya was confused "Izzy?"

"Freya, now is not the time to fight Mimi and Palmon."

"Why not? Izzy I told you we can't forgive them."

"It's not that, it's just that a red dot that was next to your black dot disappeared, our guess is that you killed a monster, right?"

"Right."

"Well, shortly after that a whole group of red dots started moving to where you killed the monster, and um... well... they're going to be where you are in about 10 seconds."

Beruche then SAID "Izzy for crying out loud just tell them to run for it."

Freya got angry when she realized Beruche was with Izzy.

Now it was Tentomon who was heard "but where should they go?"

Just then out of a corner appeared a whole stampede of cactuar.

"Ahhh!!" Mimi yelled, she wasn't going to wait until Beruche and Izzy made up their minds, so she and Palmon ran to a corridor that was just to their right. Freya had no choice but to follow them.

While they were running Izzy said "You know there was a corridor a bit closer to the cactuar that headed left, had you taken it the path to the exit would have been a lot shorter.

"Well thanks for nothing!" Mimi yelled.

"Hey!" Beruche said "We're working on it! the moment you see a path going right, take it!"

Izzy said "Are you nuts? they have to keep going straight"

"What are you talking about? It's the shortest way out!"

"But if the cactuar wise up they'll be able to surround them!"

"Well they won't make it if they hesitate."

"They should take the safe route! I say they go straight!"

"I say they turn right!"

Tentomon said "I vote for Izzy's idea!"

"Digimon partners' votes don't count!"

"Says who?"

"Says me!"

"Who put you in charge?"

"I did!"

"Izzy is the one who got the communication going! if it wasn't for him you'd just be standing here doing nothing."

Mimi was just thinking to herself 'We're doomed!'

Freya was just adding to her mental list of reasons for why killing Beruche was a good idea.

Vivi and Luna, like all the others were looking for a way out.

"How big is this maze anyway?" Luna said.

"Um.. I don't know." Vivi said "I wish I knew and exit spell."

"Well, we're not going to get out just wishing. Let's keep looking."

"Yes ma'am."

"and don't call ma'am."

"Yes ma... I mean Luna."

"Why don't we try going left here?"

"Um.. ok." Vivi was about to turn left when suddenly something small ran past him, he almost tripped on it. "What was that?"

Luna had gotten a good look at it. "It was a black piglet."

"A black piglet? Ryoga?"

"Excuse me? You know it's name?"

"Well I saw him when the Yellow Team caught up with us at the Qu village."

"I wonder why he was in such a hurry?"

Just then Vivi turned around and saw a monster behind him, it was a Marbol. "AHH!! Marbol!" Vivi started running in the same direction P-chan had, Luna started running right behind them, and the Marbol continued its chase.

"Can't you attack him with your magic?" Luna said "What's so dangerous about that?"

"Bad breath!!"

"Well I suppose that would be awful and disgusting, but is it really a threat?"

"You don't understand! Bad breath can shrink you, silence you, confuse you, slow you, toad you and berserk you, all at the same time!"

"Ack! Then run faster!"

Just then Vivi tripped on P-chan who was now running in the other direction.

Sora's comment: "Hey! Wasn't he going the other way?"

Mina's comment: "Well you know how Ryoga's sense of direction is, he took a left, another left, a third left, and then right; successfully sending him where he came from."

Sora's comment: "What a hopeless case!"

Vivi and P-chan got up, they didn't have time to say anything before a black mist approached. They continued to run for it but the mist had a bit of effect on them. P-chan was confused, Vivi was blinded and Luna was silenced.

P-chan made a run for it, Luna wanted to follow him but couldn't tell Vivi where to go. Vivi was just running straight hoping not to crash on something.

Suddenly he heard Beruche's voice "Turn left!"

He didn't hesitate to do it and turned left, where P-chan had done so. Luna had heard Beruche's voice too and went the same way.

P-chan was running through the maze like a pro, Beruche who was looking at the map was starting to believe P-chan knew the map by heart. She continued to guide Vivi who continued running behind him.

Sora's comment: "How is he able to do that?"

Mina's comment: "Well we have to go back to the fact that Ryoga's sense of direction is awful, now that he is confused he's actually going to the paths he doesn't want to go, which turn out to be the right paths."

Sora's comment: "Are you saying two negatives make a positive?"

Mina's comment: "Exactly!"

Biyomon's comment: "Biyomon's head hurts."

P-chan continued going until he crashed with a metal door, he was just recovering when Vivi tripped on him. Luna stopped when she saw both of them laying on the ground, and at the moment the effects of the bad breath had worn off.

Vivi got up and looked for Beruche, but she was nowhere to be seen.

"She's not here." Luna said "We can only hear her voice."

"Exactly!" said Beruche "and the metal door in front of you will take you to the center room where Ranma and Goku are."

"Wee?"

"Beruche?"

"I'm in a sort of control room, I can see you and a map of the maze."

"How do we get past this door."

"Izzy is working on it, or at least he will be once he finishes helping Freya, Mimi and Palmon. Stupid Mimi, taking his advice over mine, had they gone the way I told them they've be done by now, but noooooo... she had to pick Izzy'z long way out."

"Beruche?"

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry to interrupt your ranting, but we did have a marbol running after us."

"Oh... you've successfully lost him. You only need to worry about one small and slow monster walking your way."

"Who is it?"

"How am I suppose to know? it's not like I know the names! but don't worry, it looks harmless."

"What does he look like?"

"Wee..."

"Well, he's small, green, bald, and is carrying a lantern."

"AHHH!!! tonberry!!"

"Who?"

"He's too powerful for me to face alone."

"That little guy? You really shouldn't worry about him, by his speed he's going to take like 15 minutes just to reach you, by then Izzy will have opened the door."

"But what if he doesn't"

"Beat him with your magic."

"I can't!"

"Why not!?"

"Because he's too powerful!!"

"That's what you always say! You really should trust your own skills more."

"You know I agree with Beruche." Luna said.

"Um... ok..."

"Wee..." P-chan was really worried.

TK was trying to break out of the room he and Patamon had literary flown in. The giant door had automatically open to let them in, but had quickly closed afterwards. The room was circular with 3 normal doors around it plus the giant door they had come through, it was almost completely empty if it where not for the large black ball that was floating just below the ceiling, Tk and Patamon hadn't even seen until a moment ago.

"TK!" Patamon said "Maybe that ball has a clue to getting out."

"I don't know, but then again we don't have anything else."

"Want me to check it out?"

"Well ok... but be careful."

Patamon flew up towards the black ball, but just when he was about to reach it a wave of energy came out of it and send Patamon shooting back to the ground. TK ran to catch his friend and was able to break his fall, with his back.

"Patamon are you ok?"

"I'm alright TK, but what was that?"

"I don't know."

Just then they saw something coming out from beneath the ball, it was a black creature with a red torso, huge black and red wings, a size of 5 times the size of a human and it's face looked like one of a demon. Both Patamon and TK looked at each other.

"Patamon..."

"TK..."

Suddenly the creature extended his wings and gave a loud yell, scaring Patamon and TK. He looked at them and then raised his hand as if he was about to grab the ball he had come out of. Suddenly a flow of energy came out of his hand engulfing the ball, he then started to pull it down towards TK and Patamon, the ball then gave away and shot towards them.

"AHHH!!" TK yelled in fear.

"TK!!! Patamon digivolves to... Angemon!"

Angemon stood in front of TK to protect him. "Hand of Faith!" he shot a red beam from his hand towards the black ball, but it just absorbed it and continued it's way. Angemon grabbed TK and flew away right before the ball hit them. He let TK then on a spot farther away and looked at Diablos, he then flew up to face him at the same height.

"Why are you attacking us?" asked Angemon.

"You interrupted my slumber."

"Who are you?"

"Those who have known my wrath and lived call me Diablos."

"I'm sorry to disturb you, but I won't let you hurt TK. AHHH!!" Suddenly Angemon felt as if his body was being crushed by some invisible force, the pain was so much that he fell to the ground.

"If you're going to fight me you better now the power of gravity magic."

Angemon recovered and stood up. "I won't lose so easily! Hand of Faith!!" he attacked Diablos with a beam of light but he avoided easily.

TK noticed another black ball was forming near the ceiling over Diablos. "Angemon!"

Angemon charged at Diablos with his staff, he was able to hit him and slightly knocked him back, but he quickly recovered and charged back. He hit Angemon and knocked him with incredible force all the way to the wall. Diablos then approached the new black ball and charged it with energy like he had done with the one before, he then shot it at Angemon.

"Angemon!!" TK yelled, but Angemon would not be able to get out of the way. "Angemon!!" TK took out his crest and held it in front of himself. "You can't lose!"

"TK... Angemon ultradigivolves to... Magna Angemon!!"

Magna Angemon took out his sword Excalibur and used it to cut the ball in half before hitting him, it then dissipated.

Diablos was impressed, he tried to attack Magna Angemon with gravity magic but Angemon resisted by placing his shield in front of himself.

"You're not going to win so easily." yelled Magna Angemon.

Diablos and Magna Angemon charged at each other ready to fight to the finish.

Both Ranma and Goku had heard some noises coming from the other side of the giant door.

"I can fell a couple of powerful chis on the other side." Goku said "but I can't recognize either of them."

"Who could they be?" Ranma asked.

"Well it's not anybody from our teams, that for sure."

"What else can you tell."

"Well... they're definitely fighting."

"Damn... I wish they knew who they were."

"Well maybe we can open this door and find out."

"Are you kidding? Open this door? We can't even open the normal sized ones."

"Oh... right."

Just then they heard some rumbling sound behind them, they quickly turned around and saw a couple of figures coming out of the ground behind a cloud of dust. Both Goku and Ranma stood ready.

When they smoke cleared they were able to see a couple of minotaurs, they're sizes were very similar to that of Goku and Ranma. The large one had red horns and was wearing a black vest, the smaller one had yellow horns and was wearing a silver vest.

"Who are these guys?" Goku asked.

"How am I supposed to know!?" Ranma responded.

Suddenly the large on spoke "You can't go in there. It's forbidden for you."

"Who is in there?"

The small one spoke this time "If you want to find out you'll have to beat us."

"That's right!"

"You'll be sorry you messed with us!"

"We're all mighty!"

"So let's get it on!"

"It's a two on t..."

Just then both noticed Goku and Ranma had started playing rock, paper and scissors. They were getting the same hands over and over until...

Goku yelled "Scissors cut paper! I win!!"

Ranma sat on the floor indian style. "Fine! Go take care of them."

The Minotaur brothers both had sweatdrops. The smaller one spoke "You'll be sorry to have chosen to fight us alone, we'll..." but Goku had given a jump kick at the speed of a bullet, he never had a chance to avoid it and was knocked all the way to the wall at the far end of the corridor, he was knocked out instantly.

Goku put his hands behind his head and pouted. "Why do people always disappoint me like that, I was looking forward. to a good fight." He then looked at the larger minotaur and smiled "Are you stronger?"

The larger minotaur had a frightened look on his face and ran towards Ranma.

Ranma was startled and stood up ready to fight, but when the minotaur got close he got on his knees and said "Please give me a second and I'll open the door for you, just let me check on my bro first." he then ran back to the end of the corridor.

Goku walked towards Ranma, a big smile on his face.

Ranma stared at Goku "I could have finished it just as quickly you know."

"Hehe, sure I bet!"

Izzy and Beruche had witnessed the scene with Ranma and Goku. Izzy looked at Beruche and smiled.

Beruche pouted "Well he could! I guess..."

"Well at least they'll open the giant door. If I can get everybody into the center room they'll be able to leave through the giant door."

"Can you really open those doors?"

"I bet I can do anything from inside this room, I just have to figure out how."

"You can do it Izzy!" Tentomon cheered.

"And you better hurry, because if those are really TK and Patamon, then they look that they could use some help."

"I'm on it!"

Magna Angemon and Diablos were still going at it.

"Gate of Destiny!" Magna Angemon made a gate on the air with his sword. It opened and tried to suck Diablos in, but Diablos was able to resist and didn't even get near the gate. Magna Angemon couldn't keep it open longer and had to close it, but he continued fighting.

Diablos then tried to charge at Magna Angemon, but he was able to avoid him. Magna Angemon attacked with his sword and was able to wound Diablos on the left arm. Ignoring his wound Diablos charged at Magna Angemon and grabbed him by the shoulders, he then flew with him down and smashed him on the ground. He then flew up to charge another black ball.

Magna Angemon felt very weak and could barely stand up, he looked up and saw Diablos shooting another black ball, but at TK. "TK!!!" He flew as fast as he could and was able to push TK out of the way in time, but took the blast himself.

"Magna Angemon!!" TK cried as he went to check on his friend. Miraculously Magna Angemon was able to withstand the blast and was able to stand up. Magna Angemon then realized the nature of gravity magic, it's damage depended on how strong or weak you were, if you were strong it would do a lot of damage, but if you were weak it would do little damage. Still Magna Angemon needed to end the fight quickly or else they'd be doomed.

Diablos charged down towards Magna Angemon, ready to continued the attack.

Freya was getting impatient, thanks to Izzy they had found their way through the maze, but were stuck in front of another door. Mimi was a bit nervous because she felt another monster could catch up with them at any moment.

"I wish Izzy would hurry up." Mimi said.

"I agree, but he's doing what he can." Freya responded.

"Mimi?" Palmon said "What is the point of this maze?"

"How should I know!"

Freya responded "Maybe it's just an obstacle by the ultimate challenge."

"But an obstacle for who? We're two mixed teams."

"I don't know about that."

"You know, maybe it was an obstacle for us! After all we were the ones who got TK to open the cave, you just followed us here. If there's a badge waiting then it's for us ok."

Freya became annoyed, Mimi had learned a thing or two from Beruche. "Don't think I've forgotten about our Ruby, the moment we get out you'll have to hand it over."

Just then they heard Beruche's voice "Leave her alone! If you want your ruby you'll have to get it from me, I'm the one who has it."

Freya thought that was a bit stupid saying that right besides Izzy, but then she realized since Izzy was trying to open the doors that he wasn't listening to anything, and Tentomon would probably not act on his own against Beruche. Still it was annoying to have that annoying woman seeing and listening on her at every moment.

Ash, Pikachu, Kari and Gatomon had made it the door too, for a moment they thought they had arrived where they started, but Izzy spoke to them and assured them that they had found the exit.

Both Ash and Kari had a bit of a tough time handling their partners, even though they had been cooperative in the maze, they were now ready to fight each other. Kari herself couldn't understand why was Gatomon so angry with Pikachu, but Ash could understand why Pikachu was like that, Gatomon had been very arrogant when with them, looking down on him and all off his Pokemon.

"How much longer!" yelled Gatomon.

"Gatomon shhhh!! a monster could hear you." Kari said.

"Damn..."

"Izzy is working hard on it." Ash said.

"PIKA!!!"

"Gatomon knows, she's just worried of my safety. We know Izzy is doing his best."

Ash sighed.

Vivi, Luna and P-chan were worried, they could now see tonberry at the distance.

Luna yelled "Vivi do something!"

Vivi thought for a moment. "Ok... let me try something. SLOW!!!"

tonberry was unaffected by Vivi's spell, it continued walking towards them, dagger in hand.

P-chan wished he had a bucket of hot water at that moment.

"FIRAGA!! THUNDAGA!! BLIZZAGA!!" Vivi tried many powerful spells, but tonberry was barely being affected.

"That thing can really take it." Luna said.

"You don't know the half of it." Vivi said.

"Are those things immortal?"

"No, but they are very resilient and powerful."

tonberry was getting closer, Vivi tried some more spells but tonberry continued walking.

All three of them reclined against the door, tonberry was getting very close. They looked at the dagger in his hand and were worried it would be the last thing they would look at, tonberry was right in front of them when...

"Click..."

Suddenly the door behind them opened and Vivi fell on his back.

P-chan ran through the door with Luna right behind him.

"Vivi quick!"

Vivi got up and barely avoided a stab from tonberry. After going through the door they got behind it and pushed it to close it again. tonberry was not fast enough to get out before the door got closed.

Just as Vivi, P-chan and Luna had gone through the door, from a door far from them came out Freya, Mimi and Palmon, and from another door far away came out Ash, Pikachu, Kari and Gatomon, and at the same the huge door opened with a loud smash, letting Goku and Ranma in.

They were all able to witness Magna Angemon stabbing Diablos right in the gut, Diablos screeched loudly and then flew to a black ball at the top of the room, he got in it and the ball disappeared. Magna Angemon floated down and when he reached the ground he transformed back to a Tokomon. TK ran to him and picked him up.

"Tokomon! Are you alright!"

Tokomon gave a weak smile "Hehe, I beat him!"

TK smiled at his partner, but when looked up he saw a portal open right in front of him. He stared at it and then, as if he were in a trance, walked right in with Tokomon in his arms.

Nobody understood what was happening but decided to follow TK into the portal, Goku being the fastest made first, followed by Ranma and Freya, Gatomon was about to enter when the portal closed.

Gatomon was startled "What the?"

Everyone else made it to where the portal had appeared.

Mimi: "What's going on?"

Ash: "This is making no sense whatsoever."

P-chan: "Weeee..."

Kari: "What shall we do now?"

Vivi: "Um..."

Mimi: "What is it Vivi?"

Vivi: "This place is full of magic, it's all around us."

Luna: "You're right! I feel it too."

Everyone looked around, but nobody saw anything.

Vivi: "You can't look at it, you must feel it."

Kari: "Yeah, I feel something too, it's kinda weird..."

Gatomon: "Well in any case, shouldn't we find Beruche, Izzy and Tentomon?"

Ash: "Right! Maybe Izzy knows what's going on."

Suddenly there was a loud noise and the whole room started to shake, everybody had a hard time staying on their feet. Suddenly Ash noticed something. "The door is closing!"

Everybody looked at the giant door, it was slowly closing.

"If it closes will be stuck inside!" Mimi yelled.

Everyone ran towards the door, Gatomon made it first but didn't go through to make sure the others made it. P-chan, Ash, Pikachu, Luna, Mimi, Palmon, Vivi and finally Kari went through. Gatomon was about to go through but suddenly there was another loud noise, she looked at the wall opposite to the door and saw that it was falling apart, not wanting to know what that meant she went through the door.

They were all crossing the bridge slowly, even though it was fairly wide and strong, the ground was still shaking and they didn't want to risk falling off it. Everybody heard the loud crash when the door closed completely. Almost everyone had made it safely to the other side when suddenly.

"***CRASH***"

Something had hit the door and it had been blown away towards them, it didn't hit them but fell on top of the bridge, destroying part of it. Vivi, Kari and Gatomon who hadn't finished crossing it started running before the rest of the bridge collapsed, but everything was so quick that they didn't make it, they started falling towards the lava.

Ash was quick to react, "Bulbasaur! Chikorita! please save them!" he threw his pokeballs and as soon as both pokemon appeared they threw their vines down towards them.

Palmon helped to. "Poison Ivy!!" She extended her vines as well.

Bulbasaur and Chikorita grabbed Gatomon and Kari respectively, Palmon grabbed Vivi. They all hit the wall on the side of the pit and slowly started to climb up.

But P-chan had noticed what had blown away the door in the first place "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! WEEEEE!! WEEEEEE!!"

Pikachu and then Mimi noticed.

"PIKA!!"

"WATCH OUT!!!"

There was a gigantically huge golem standing where the door had been. It was the size of the building. It jumped into the pit and walked towards them, even inside the pit its torso was still above ground level.

"Palmon hurry up!!"

"Bulbasaur! Chikorita! We don't have much time."

They both helped their partners get everyone out in time but the Golem was quickly approaching.

When it was close enough it raised its hand to crush them. Mimi and Ash just covered their heads with their arms expecting the worse, but then they heard...

"Electroshock!!"

The Golem was hit with a blast of electricity on the chest, but wasn't hurt at all, he was however distracted and didn't hit them.

Kabuterimon flew above the Golem, even he looked just like a big fly to him. "Electroshock!"

The Golem was hit again but didn't even flinch at the attack, he waved his hand in the air trying to hit Kabuterimon, even though Kabuterimon was able to avoid his hand, the wind it caused in the process was enough to send him out of control. He had to concentrate hard not to hit a wall.

Beruche and Izzy joined the rest of the team, and both helped getting the others out of the way.

"What took you?" Mimi said.

"Well, unlike you we didn't have access to the center room." Beruche said "so we had to wait until Izzy was able to open the doors we had used to get inside the maze."

Ash noticed Kabuterimon was having difficulty and decided to help. "Charizard! I choose you."

Charizard came out of his pokeball and threw fire from his mouth signaling his power, but then he noticed what he was up against and turned around to look at Ash, he then started shaking his head to say no, he actually looked scared.

"Come on Charizard, I only need you to distract him!"

Charizard turned around, he still looked scared but flew towards the Golem anyway. He threw a flamethrower near its stomach.

At first the Golem hadn't even notice Charizard was there, he was trying to swat Kabuterimon with his hands, but suddenly Charizard got right in his face and threw another flamethrower. He definitely got the Golem's attention then, it then started to wave it's hands around trying to catch Kabuterimon or Charizard.

Kari, Gatomon and Vivi had made it out of the pit.

"Are you alright Kari?" Gatomon asked.

"Yeah, I'm ok." Kari responded, but it was clare she had a couple of bruises.

Izzy yelled "Kabuterimon! Let's get out here!!"

"Charizard!!" Ash held out his pokeball "come ba..."

Just then Golem was able to grab Charizard with its left hand, he then started to squish him.

"CHARIZARD!!!" Ash tried to recall Charizard into his pokeball, but he was too far away.

"Electroshock!!" Kabuterimon tried to attack the Golem's hand so that he would let go of Charizard, but the Golem didn't flinch.

Charizard's cry could be heard everywhere inside. Ash was panicking, he didn't know what to do. "Charizard!! Charizard..." a couple of tears started to come out of his eyes, Charizard wouldn't last long.

Kari couldn't take "Gatomon!!! We can't let that happen!!"

"Kari?"

"Gatomon please!"

Gatomon understood, she nodded with a smile.

Kari smile and took a badge out of her pocket, she held it tight and it's glow got brighter, along with the glow of the crest of light.

"Gatomon ultradigivolves to... Angewomon!!"

Angewomon flew quickly towards the Golem. "Celestial Arrow!!" she hit the Golem right on the right eye. The Golem let go of Charizard to cover his face with his hands.

Charizard was to weak to fly away, he started to fall into the pit of lava, but just as he was falling in front of Ash he was recalled into his pokeball.

Ash looked at Charizard's pokeball, his face was red. "I'm sorry Charizard."
