Matt is the rebel of the group. Always disagreeing with Tai about every little thing. He cares about doing what's right but unlike Tai he's more sensitive to other people's feelings. This is the reason he got the crest of friendship. Matt is a bit of a loner and will often wonder off the group. His parents divorced and while he went with his father his younger brother TK went with his mother. Matt is very protective of his younger brother because living with his mom made him soft and a bit of a crybaby.

Matt's digimon partner is Gabumon. Gabumon will be by Matt's side even when the rest of the world is against him. He does everything to make sure Matt's alright. However Gabumon is very shy around everyone else and is usually very quiet. Gabumon's evolution stages are Garurumon, Weregarurumon and Metal Garurumon.
